What is the Philosophy of the ETL School of Thought?
-
The Philosophy of the ETL School of Thought is defined as general principles and values that adhere to, which are as follows:
-
No one, regardless of race, culture, nationality, gender, religion, ability, etc. has the option to be born. As a result, everyone has a right to be here.
-
There is a purpose for every human life.
-
Every human being has an inherent value that cannot be measured simply by what one can/cannot do. As a result, no one should be dehumanized, treated as less than a human or thought of as nothing.
-
Human beings are not born equal. As a result, everyone should be guaranteed equal rights in order to have an opportunity to strive towards quality of life.
-
Everyone is part of the human family and represents, as well as, affects one another.
-
Regardless of all the similarities that exist among human beings, as individuals, we are all unique. As a result, everyone brings something different to the pathway of life.
-
Not everyone can always be guaranteed success; however, in order to maximize the possibility for success, we need to provide the following.
-
Every human being is imperfect and lives, works and plays in an imperfect system (world, society, community, family, etc.) As a result, everyone must live life based on therapeutic principles in order to deal therapeutically and effectively with imperfections.
-
We are morally obligated to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves and others to the extent possible.
-
We are also morally obligated to empower people to provide for themselves and effective teaching and learning brings out the best in everyone.
-
Everyone has a degree of ability for teaching/learning and therapeutic and effective teaching and learning brings out the best in everyone.
-
Life should be cherished and protected whether it be our own or the lives of others. Life should never be cheapened by indifference and/or lack of regard for common human values.
-
Despite the challenges of yesterday, today and tommorow, we choose to believe that the best is yet to come.
